On Wednesday 15th May 2019, Director of Clinical Services, Rachel Cowley attended an Afternoon Tea at Buckingham Palace.
She was nominated by Sue Sellers, Patron of Tarporley War Memorial Hospital, after hearing about Rachel’s brave and caring act of saving an infants life last July. Rachel was out shopping in a local supermarket when she heard a commotion involving a distraught mum and family where a child was experiencing respiratory problems.
Naturally, Rachel as an experienced Nurse, went to the infants aid and attended to the situation until the emergency services took over. Relieved that the baby was safe, Rachel went on her way. It was only when a Facebook post emerged searching for the heroine, that Rachel was found. The power of social media enabling the family to properly thank her for what she did that day.
Rachel remarked how much she enjoyed the experience she shared with her husband, on what was a beautiful spring day. Those attending the gathering were able to wander through the grounds of the Palace without restriction and Rachel even caught a glimpse of Princess Anne, Price Charles and Camilla.
On behalf of all the team at Tarporley War Memorial Hospital, we wanted to let you know how proud we all are of you Rachel!
