My wife, Andrea, and I have lived a mile from the hospital for the last 40 years. We have three daughters, all married and five grandchildren. Also there is Boris, a golden retriever, and Donald who is a wire haired dachshund.
I am a Cambridge graduate and a chartered accountant. I am a former KPMG partner and have worked in the cooperative sector becoming Group Chief Executive of The Cooperative Group, whose activities included food retailing, banking, insurance and farming.
I retired in 2007 and since then have served on the board of the Duchy of Lancaster for 10 year, was High Sheriff for Cheshire in 2013-14 and was made a Commander of The Royal Victorian Order in 2017. I am currently Chairman of Chester Race Company.
I have been a supporter of Tarporley Hospital for many years and having stepped down as a trustee in 2018 continue to assist with fund raising.
For me the hospital is a shining example of community service looking after the needs of local patients in a selfless and loving way.
