Leaving the Hospital a gift in your will is a wonderful way to show your appreciation for the work that we do, and the difference we make to our community.
If you leave a gift in your Will to a charity like Tarporley War Memorial Hospital, you can leave this as:
- a fixed amount of money, known as a ‘pecuniary legacy’
- an item
- a share of what’s left of your estate once all costs and other legacies are paid out, known as a ‘residuary legacy’.
Your charitable donation will either:
- be taken off the value of your estate before Inheritance Tax is calculated
- reduce your Inheritance Tax rate, if more than 10% of your estate is left to charity
As your will is a legally binding document, and the subject of charitable legacies can be complex, it’s sensible to seek professional help when making a legacy in your will.
In October 2018, we teamed up with some excellent professionals, including an accountants to offer invaluable advice, and held our first Legacy Month. Due to its success, we will be holding another event in 2019. Check back for more information, and how to get involved. If you wish to hear about this first then please complete the contact box on the website and sign up to our Fundraising News.
By leaving a gift to the hospital, you are helping to secure its services for your children, grandchildren and the whole community.
